How to repair a PDF

Two repair methods
Automatic rebuilds the file page by page and keeps text, links and images. Any page it cannot rebuild is drawn and added as a picture. Pictures only skips the rebuild and saves every page as a picture, which is the most reliable choice but removes selectable text.
What can and cannot be recovered
- A broken index, wrong page count or extra data at the start of the file can usually be fixed.
- A page with damaged content may come back as a picture.
- Content that is missing from a cut-off file cannot be restored.
