Free Online Barcode Generator for Labels, Products and Inventory

The DailyOnWeb barcode generator creates Code 128, EAN-13, UPC-A and other common barcodes right in your browser. Enter a value, choose a format and download a clean image for price tags, shelf labels, shipping boxes, event tickets or library cards.

How to create a barcode

  1. Select a barcode format from the list.
  2. Type your value. Use the hint under the field to see what the format accepts.
  3. Set the bar width, bar height, line color and background color, and choose whether to show the text.
  4. Click PNG or SVG to download your barcode.

Which barcode format should I use?

  • Code 128: the best general choice for letters, numbers and symbols. Common in shipping and warehouses.
  • EAN-13 and EAN-8: retail product codes used in most countries.
  • UPC-A: the 12-digit retail code used in the United States and Canada.
  • ITF-14: carton and case codes that wrap multiple retail items.
  • Code 39 and Codabar: older formats still found in industry, libraries and blood banks.

Check digits explained

EAN, UPC and ITF-14 end with a check digit that helps scanners catch mistakes. If you enter the number without its last digit, the generator calculates it and draws the full code. This saves you from doing the math by hand.

Print and scanning tips

Use dark bars on a light background, keep a clear margin on both sides and avoid shrinking the image after exporting it. For labels, the SVG file gives the sharpest edges. Always scan a printed test before producing a large run.
