Three encoding modes

Component, full URL and form modes cover every common URL encoding job.

UTF-8 safe

Accents, Arabic, Chinese and emoji are encoded correctly and decode back to the same text.

Private by design

Encoding runs in your browser. Your links and parameters are never uploaded.

Why use our URL Encoder?

Private and secure

Links, tokens and parameters stay on your device. Nothing is uploaded or logged.

The right mode for the job

Switch between component, full URL and form encoding in one click.

Free Online URL Encoder and Percent Encoding Tool

The DailyOnWeb URL encoder converts text into a safe, percent-encoded string for links, redirects, query strings and API calls. It supports the three encodings developers use every day, is UTF-8 safe and runs in your browser with no sign-up. Use it whenever a value contains spaces, symbols or non-English letters that could break a URL.

How to URL encode text

  1. Paste your text or link into the input box.
  2. Choose Component, Full URL or Form mode.
  3. Click Encode.
  4. Copy the encoded result or download it.

Which mode should I choose?

  • Component (like encodeURIComponent): for one value inside a URL, such as ?q= parameters. Encodes / ? & = # too.
  • Full URL (like encodeURI): for a complete address. Keeps : / ? & = # so the link still works.
  • Form (application/x-www-form-urlencoded): spaces become +. Use it for HTML form bodies and some APIs.

Common URL encoded characters

A space is %20, an ampersand is %26, an equals sign is %3D, a question mark is %3F, a slash is %2F and a percent sign is %25. Non-English characters turn into several codes because they are encoded as UTF-8 bytes, so one emoji can become twelve characters.

Avoid double encoding

Encoding a string that is already encoded turns %20 into %2520 and breaks the link. If a result looks wrong, run it through the URL decoder first, check it, then encode it once. Also encode each value separately, not the whole URL, when you build a query string yourself.

More free developer tools

Reverse the result with URL decode, which also lists query parameters in a table. Need a different encoding? Use Base64 encode and Base64 decode. Passing JSON in a URL? Check it with the JSON formatter first. Matching parts of a URL is easier with the regex tester, and you can turn any link into a scannable code with the QR code generator.
