Crop Images Online for Free

In short: this tool crops your photos directly in your browser. Drag to select any area or use a preset ratio, check the final size, and download. Nothing is uploaded.

How to crop an image

  1. Drop your image on the page, or click to choose it.
  2. Pick a ratio, or leave it on Free.
  3. Drag the box and its corner handles to frame the part you want.
  4. Click Crop and download your image.

Choosing the right ratio

Use 1:1 for profile pictures and square posts, 4:5 for portrait feed photos, 9:16 for stories and short video covers, 16:9 for banners and video thumbnails, and 4:3 or 3:2 for classic photo prints. Choosing the ratio first stops your picture from being stretched when you place it on a platform.

What Crop Image is best for

  • Square profile pictures and avatars.
  • Social media posts, stories and covers.
  • Removing unwanted edges or people from a photo.
  • Trimming screenshots to the important part.
  • Product photos framed to the same shape.

Your images stay on your device

Cropping is done in your browser. There is no upload and no copy on a server, so personal photos stay private.

Need something else?

After cropping, change the dimensions with Image Resize or reduce the file size with Compress Image. If the photo is sideways, fix it with Rotate Image. To keep only the subject, use BG Remover, and for site icons try the Favicon Generator. All tools are in Image Tools.

Good to know

  • Cropping removes the outside area. Keep your original if you may need it again.
  • The size of the crop is shown in pixels under the picture.
  • With a fixed ratio, the box keeps its shape while you resize it.
  • Drag the box by its centre to move it without changing its size.

Häufig gestellte Fragen (FAQs)

How do I crop an image online?

Drop your image onto the page, drag the corners or the box to select the area you want, and click Crop. Then download the result.

Which aspect ratios are available?

Free for any shape, plus 1:1, 4:3, 3:2, 16:9, 4:5 and 9:16. These cover square posts, standard photos, widescreen banners and vertical stories.

How do I crop an image to a square?

Choose the 1:1 ratio. The crop box becomes a square that you can move and resize while it stays square.

Can I see the size of the cropped image?

Yes. The cropped size in pixels is shown under the picture and updates as you drag, so you know exactly what you will get.

Does cropping reduce quality?

No. Cropping only removes the parts outside the box. The pixels inside stay as sharp as in the original.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. The crop happens in your browser on your own device. Your photos are never sent to DailyOnWeb or anyone else.

Which formats can I crop?

JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, AVIF, HEIC and SVG files are accepted.
