XML or CSV

Switch between XML output and CSV output from the same JSON input.

Conversion runs in your browser. Your data is never uploaded.

Free Online JSON to XML and JSON to CSV Converter

This free JSON to XML converter and JSON to CSV converter turns API responses and data exports into formats that other systems and spreadsheets understand. Use the CSV output to open JSON in Excel or Google Sheets, or the XML output for feeds, SOAP style services and legacy imports. It needs no sign-up and runs in your browser.

How to convert JSON to CSV

  1. Paste a JSON array of objects, for example a list of users or products.
  2. Select CSV and choose the delimiter that your spreadsheet expects.
  3. Click Convert. The first row holds the column names.
  4. Copy the text or download data.csv and open it in Excel or Google Sheets.

How to convert JSON to XML

Select XML, enter a root element name such as products and click Convert. Object keys become element names, lists repeat the element for every item, and special characters in text are escaped, so the result is well-formed and indented. Keys with spaces or symbols are adjusted to valid XML names.

Flattening nested JSON

CSV is flat, JSON is not. To bridge the gap, nested objects are flattened using dot notation, so {"address":{"city":"Paris"}} becomes a column named address.city. Lists of simple values are joined with semicolons, and lists of objects are kept as JSON text in the cell.

Tips for clean conversions

  • Validate first. The input must be strict JSON, so check it with the JSON formatter and validator.
  • Use consistent keys across objects. Missing keys simply become empty cells.
  • If Excel shows everything in one column, switch the delimiter to semicolon or tab.
  • Prefer simple key names with letters, digits and underscores for the cleanest XML.

After converting, tidy the markup with the XML formatter, or shrink output files with the minify and beautify tool. For database exports, the SQL formatter keeps queries readable. Need to encode a payload for a URL or an email? Use URL encode or Base64 encode, and check the size of your text with the character counter.
