Quality control
Lower quality means a smaller file. The slider lets you find the point where the image still looks great but takes far less space.
Width and format
Capping the width and switching to WebP are the two biggest ways to shrink a photo for the web, and you can combine them with the quality setting.

Compress Images Online for Free
In short: this tool reduces the file size of your JPG, PNG and WebP images directly in your browser. You control the quality, the maximum width and the output format, and nothing is uploaded.
How to compress an image
- Drop your images on the page, or click to choose them.
- Set the quality. 70 is a good starting point.
- Optionally pick a maximum width and an output format.
- Click Compress, check the saving and download.
Why compress images
Images are usually the heaviest part of a web page. Smaller files load faster, use less mobile data, fit email and form limits, and take less room in storage. Search engines also reward faster pages, so compressing photos helps both visitors and rankings.
What Compress Image is best for
- Speeding up websites, blogs and online shops.
- Meeting upload size limits on forms and marketplaces.
- Sending photos by email or chat.
- Freeing space on your phone or hard drive.
- Preparing images for presentations and documents.
Your images stay on your device
The compression runs in your browser, so there is no upload and no copy on a server. This keeps private and client images safe.
Need something else?
For even smaller web images, convert with JPG to WebP or PNG to WebP. Change the dimensions with Image Resize, trim the picture with Crop Image, or process a whole folder with Batch Convert. Browse more in Image Tools.
Good to know
- The result depends on the image. Detailed photos shrink differently from flat graphics.
- Lossy compression cannot be undone, so keep your originals.
- A maximum width only shrinks images that are wider than it.
- Switching to JPG removes transparency from PNG files.
자주 묻는 질문 (FAQ)
How do I compress an image online?
Drop your images onto the page, set the quality, optionally pick a maximum width and output format, and click Compress. The tool shows the size before and after for each file, and you can download them all.
How much can I reduce the file size?
It depends on the picture. Photos often shrink by 50 to 80 percent at quality 70 with no obvious change. Simple graphics shrink less, and already optimised files may barely change.
What quality should I choose?
The default is 70, which gives a big saving with a good look for most photos. Use 80 to 90 for images with fine detail or text, and go lower for large backgrounds where file size matters most.
Which output format is best?
Keep the same format to stay compatible, choose WebP for the smallest files on websites, or choose JPG for photos that must open in older software.
Can I limit the image width?
Yes. Choose a maximum width such as 1920, 1280 or 800 pixels. Larger images are scaled down, which cuts the file size a lot. Smaller images are not enlarged.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The compression runs entirely in your browser on your own device. Your photos are never sent to DailyOnWeb or anyone else.
Will compressing change my original file?
No. Your original stays untouched. The tool creates new, smaller files that you download.
