Tips for a favicon that stays readable
A favicon is shown as small as 16 pixels, so complex logos turn into a blur. Use a simple symbol or a single letter, keep strong contrast with the background, and start from a square source image of 512 pixels or more. A little padding keeps the shape from touching the edge.

How do I create a favicon?
Drop your logo or image onto the page, choose the background and padding, and click Generate. You download a ZIP containing favicon.ico and the app icons in several sizes.
What image should I start with?
Use a square image of at least 512 by 512 pixels, ideally a simple logo or symbol. Fine detail disappears at 16 pixels, so bold shapes work best.
What does the padding option do?
It adds empty space around your image inside the icon, from 0 to 30 percent. A little padding stops the logo from touching the edge, which looks cleaner in browser tabs and on home screens.
Can I keep a transparent background?
Yes. Choose Transparent to keep see-through areas, or Solid colour to fill the icon with a colour such as white, which helps on phones that show icons on dark backgrounds.
What is in the ZIP file?
The pack contains favicon.ico and PNG icons in the sizes browsers, phones and tablets ask for, so you can add them to your site straight away.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The icons are created in your browser on your own device. Your logo is never sent to DailyOnWeb or anyone else.
How do I add the favicon to my website?
Upload the files to the root of your site, then add link tags for the icon files in the head of your pages. Most site builders also have a field where you can upload a favicon directly.
