In 1994, at the CEU San Pablo University, at the hands of Antonio Garrido, the first Master's Degree in Transport Design taught in Spain began. After a few successful years, in 2001, the Polytechnic University of Valencia inherited the same teaching team, which was joined by new professionals, renamed Master in Styling and Concept Design of the car, and increasing its duration to two school years.

Inspired by the world's most prestigious graduate studies, eminently hands-on teaching "provides students with the theoretical tools and materials necessary to design automobiles with the boldest and advanced styling possible," Garrido explains.

Students have passed through its classrooms and today occupy managerial positions in the most important Design Centers in the world and those designs are available in auto for trade. Brands such as BMW, Audi, Porsche, Jaguar, Volvo, Renault, Mitsubishi, or Seat, among others, benefit from the talent and originality of Spanish design thanks to the existence of these studios.

To carry out this task, the Master's Degree not only has the most qualified professors and the latest generation technical means employed in the industry but also maintains agreements with the Design Centers of different automobile companies that guarantee a transfer of knowledge. " Designing a car is a highly demanding and complex process, which requires designers not only a strict academic preparation but also comprehensive training in aspects such as teamwork, handling of egos, defense of projects, the relationship with synergistic but antagonistic technical disciplines and the maturity necessary to join international multidisciplinary teams from the outset, "argues Garrido.

Currently, the management team made up of Emilio Iribarren and Antonio Garrido, proudly attends the presentation of a new group of designers ready to storm the labor market with the most striking and innovative designs. Works that will be presented between November 20 and 23, and here we show a preview of them. Bold and avant-garde designs that point to the most exciting future of the car.

This year, the master is celebrating its twentieth anniversary, and designers have been trained in it, who now design successful models in brands such as Audi, Jaguar, BMW, Volvo, Porsche, Seat, Mercedes, Volkswagen, Ferrari or Giugiaro, among many others. In fact, a large part of the cars for sale today there are from small parts to complete designs signed by students who graduated in this master.

During the two-year duration of the master's degree, students receive theoretical and practical training with a clear focus on design and employment in a technically demanding sector, which requires mastering complex 3D design programs such as the craftsmanship of modeling a model with ' clay ', an element similar to the clay with which prototypes are created.

Up to eight different teachers teach both design theory and its practical application, which is reflected in a master's thesis in which each student designs their own car and brings it to reality with a scale model to which is added a complete 'book' with the details of each model, a job that will be your business news card for the future.

It is these final degree projects that will be exhibited at the Polytechnic's Higher Technical School of Design Engineering between November 20 and 22 for their final evaluation. During these days, designers from different manufacturers will visit the University to see first-hand the work of the students and professionally assess its results, and not only from the automotive world.
